Volunteers

Thank you for thinking about volunteering at the Llanfyllin Workhouse. We need volunteers for a whole range of duties – have a look below and see if there is something to suit your skills and expertise.  If you cannot find an opportunity for you, please email us with your suggestions.

Work days - We have volunteer work days every Tuesday, and regular weekend volunteer events. Come along and become part of the friendly team that have made all this possible. Look out for announcements on this website or become a member and receive the e-mail updates.

Help out at an event - The Llanfyllin Workhouse runs many events throughout the year. If you have less time to give or don’t want to make a regular commitment this is the volunteering opportunity for you!  You can commit for as little as 4 hours once a year and still do a great deal to help raise funds for the Llanfyllin Workhouse.

Gardening - The grounds of the workhouse have been neglected for years and we would love some help to recreate the original Victorian fruit and vegetable gardens.  We have recently received funding from 02 and Powys Environmental Partnership to help create a community garden to remeber all those that lived at the Workhouse.

Building and general maintenance - There is a considerable amount of external work that needs doing to the building to prevent further deterioration and begin restoration including re-glazing existing windows, re-instating down pipes, pointing and carpentry.

Administration - General help around the office, answering phone calls and general administrative tasks.

Publicity - Help delivering leaflets and spreading the word about the Llanfyllin Workhouse.

Fundraising - The Workhouse needs volunteers with plenty of ideas and enthusiasm to join our fundraising team.
